What is Italian Beef?

Made famous by Portillo's, Italian beef is slow-roasted for four hours, then thinly sliced and traditionally served piled into French bread, dipped in homemade gravy and topped with sweet peppers or hot giardiniera. In the mash up of all mash ups, we've added it to a deep dish pizza!

What the heck is giardiniera?

Say it with us... “jar-din-air-ah!” Hot giardiniera is a mix of veggies including peppers, cauliflower, carrots, and celery that are pickled in oil. This condiment is delicious on anything from Italian beef sandwiches to deep dish pizza!

How did you guys come up with this?

We just love Chicago so much so we decided to get a little crazy, and here we are.

Are Lou Malnati's and Portillo's really friends?

Yes. We get together on Tuesday nights for Bunco.
