1 Eli's Original Plain Cheesecake & 1 Lou's Pizza

I have sent 6 different people the combination of Eli cheese cake and Sausage pizza. When they received the box they call me and say the same we love you and love the gift. I love the free shipping anywhere in the country. You cannot go wrong when you send as gifts and try it for yourself

great flavor - too small

I’ve ordered for myself and others in the past years. I love the products mostly, but the pizzas seem a tiny bit lower in quality and quantity. I never before had any of the pizzas come out of the oven rather “dreary.” The crust less than crispy - just not what I’ve always had from TOC. Maybe my orders this year (4) were an isolated thing but all 4 were a bit lacking in Malnati quality.I asked for a delivery NOT before 12/20 (I ordered even over the phone and talked to a nice guy-around 12/10 or so.) All the orders arrived on 12/14. That sort of messed up the impact as the recipients love the pizza/cheesecake as gifts. The lady I called to ask why/how that happened was having a really bad day. Bottom line she implied there was nothing she could do. Well I told her a small credit to my payment ($326) would be nice. She said with a sigh, “How’s half off?” I wasn’t even thinking of that, but I sure took it. Then we had the Portillo’s heart shaped cake. As a native west side born Chicagoan, I’m totally familiar with Portillo. They were never known for cakes. The Portillo I know NOW doesn’t use Vienna Beef so there’s no point in buying their Chicago Dog kit. They’re no longer true Chicago dogs. It’s the Vienna beef that makes them Chicago—period. As for the cake—I ordered it because 12/25 is my grandson’s birthday. I thought a TOC PRODUCT with a Chicago pedigree would be a winner. I would’ve done better with box cake and canned frosting. We kind of laughed but I was embarrassed. I called again and spoke with an incredible young guy-pure customer service & very professional. He replaced the cake with a Lezza product and we ALL know there was never a better Italian bakery than Lezza. My point in calling at all was actually to just TELL SOMEONE my rather negative experience - I wasn’t looking to cause problems but the truth is that the ORIGINAL guy with whom I place the 4 orders was really nice but someone messed up as to the delivery. I find it hard to believe your computer system does not track the staff who is placing the order (it truly should). Or maybe the crabby lady was not entirely truthful. I didn’t want the guy beat up, just for someone to eyeball the original order to see where the snafu happened. The 3rd person was about listening to the issue, restating HIS understanding of the issue and then professionally handling it. This order is delayed due to the historic lousy weather & will arrive on 1/4. It went out on 12/28 and even with dry ice I’m hoping it isn’t ruined. WHY am I going thru all of this? Because I think your fine company deserves to be told when things go awry. If people who are not familiar with Malnati or TOC got this service they would not think much of our food. It’s one thing to put the Malnati name out there and another to add “Chicago” but to put both of them in public when there’s such issues, merits a KIND and charitable smack with my Nonna wooden Sauce spoon! :rofl: Happy New Year!
