Packed with Lou Malnati's deep dish pizzas and Portillo's Chicago-style hot dogs, this kit is a real crowd-pleaser.

Package Contents

This Portillo's Hot Dog Kit & Pizza Combo is packed with:

  • 2 9" Lou Malnati's deep dish pizzas
  • 10 all beef Portillo's Chicago hot dogs
  • 10 poppy-seed buns
  • 9-oz of yellow mustard
  • 6-oz of relish
  • 6-oz of sport peppers
  • Celery salt

A Portillo's Chicago-style hot dog starts with a natural skin on all beef hot dog, served in a steamed poppy seed bun, loaded with mustard, relish, onions, tomatoes, kosher pickle spear, sport peppers, and Portillo's own seasoning salt.

Hot Dogs
  1. Fill a 4 quart pot with one and half quarts of water (48 ounces).
  2. Bring water to a boil; turn the water down until it stops boiling, or a slight simmer. (DO NOT COOK HOT DOGS IN BOILING WATER).
  3. Place desired number of hot dogs into water and cook uncovered for 20 minutes. This is one of the critical steps to get the genuine Portillo's flavor.
Hot Dog Buns
  1. Do not steam the buns until the hot dogs have cooked for 20 minutes.
  2. Place package of hot dog buns into a microwave, if fewer buns are desired put them into a plastic bag and loosely close bag.
  3. Heat buns on high for 2 to 2 ½ minutes. (If fewer buns are desired heat for 45-60 seconds).
  4. Be cautious when opening, escaping steam and hot dog buns will be extremely hot.
Assembly
  1. Carefully open steam bun completely.
  2. Place hot dog into bun with ends curling up.
  3. Top with desired condiments in the following order: Mustard, Relish, Onion, Tomato slices, Portillo's seasoning salt (one shake per slice), Pickle spear and Sport Peppers.

    I send my sister this

I send my sister this package. She had had a taste for chicago-style hot dogs. She absolutely love them she was a static to get them. Totally reminded her of home.

    GREAT and Would Reorder Again!

I had recently visited Green Bay/Milwaukee and had a Lou's, which we thoroughly enjoyed with all of that freshness and strining cheese. While out visiting my kiddos in CA, I wanted to share that yumminess with them too. The pizzas were very good, but not quite like fresh out of Lou's oven, though not complaining! The Portillos hot dogs were excellent, with that snap heard and felt with every bite. Would definitely reorder both again. Packaging and shipping couldn't have been any better, with everything still very much frozen when received.

    Lots of Issues

I called on the proposed delivery of this item when I saw that the original delivery date was changed and that it was shipped five days before it was to be delivered. I called and had a great experience with the support person who understood the issue, cancelled the order and refunded my purchase. She was excellent. however the package was still delivered to my 95 year old mother 5 days after being shipped -and luckily my mom remembered not to open it. Additionally, when looking back through the correspondence on this transaction, I see I was given a $40 gift certificate after all the issues trying to get this delivered while I was at my mothers in Kansas. (She loved Portillos hot dogs when I lived in the Chicago area). That gift certificate was mailed to an old address in Naperville even though my current address is in Massachusetts, so it hasn’t been received. I realize the delivery problem could be more a UPS problem than Taste of Chicago but this was a very disappointing experience. I have received multiple Taste of Chicago gifts from others as well as sending multiple gifts and this was definitely a different experience. Pat Bridger Patbridger@me.com This was a fun gift for my moms 95th birthday celebration- something she needed to get while we were there to unbox it etc. And I really couldn’t understand why a product such as this was shipped on July 20th with a delivery date of July 25. Clearly the product wasn’t going to be fit to eat.

Great to be able to have in California

I doubt I'll ever get around to visiting Chicago to try Lou's & Portillo's in person so it's great to be able to try this at home, everything was delicious. My one minor complaint is the packaging. The mustard and celery salt bottles were packed on top of the buns, crushing them.

    Surprise for my dad

Due to illness, my dad can't taste much any more, and lots of things that used to taste good just don't taste good any more. One day, he said he wished he could have Chicago pizza and hot dogs again - something sorely missing in the south. As a surprise, I ordered this gift pack. He loved it. For the first time in months, if not years, he was excited about eating something. The only negative thing I can think of is that competing web sites offer full containers of condiments with their Chicago hot dog packs, rather than smaller packets, but competing web sites also don't offer discounts for combining packages like hot dogs and pizza.
