This Portillo's Italian Beef Kit is packed with:

This sandwich kit makes 16 half sandwiches

  • 2.5 lbs (1 bag) of Portillo's famous Italian beef
  • 2 (1-qt bags) of Portillo's signature gravy
  • French bread rolls (16)
  • Oven roasted sweet peppers (8 oz bag)
  • Hot giardiniera (16 oz jar)
Stove top heating instructions
  1. Place entire contents of gravy packets in large sauce pan.
  2. Heat until it reaches 180°.DO NOT BOIL. This takes about 20 minutes.
  3. Open beef pack and separate slices. This creates a more flavorful and tender sandwich.
  4. Add enough slices for 2-3 sandwiches at a time and heat for about 1 minute. Add beef in small increments as needed.
  5. Take temperature of gravy while heating beef. The temperature should stay between 165° and 180° for best results.
French Bread:
  • Place rolls on cookie pan 2" apart and bake at 450° for 5 minutes.
Microwave heating instructions
  1. Place entire contents of gravy bucket in microwave safe bowl and heat for 5 minutes. This includes any solids or spices.
  2. Stir contents and then heat for another 4 minutes while separating the beef slices. The temperature should be 180°. DO NOT BOIL.
  3. Take bowl out of microwave and add enough beef for 2-3 sandwiches and stir in for about a minute. Take temperature as you add beef.
  4. If the temperature falls below 165° remove beef, return to microwave and reheat for 2 minutes.
    5. Food Safety Caution: The beef and gravy in this package must be at 40° or colder upon receiving it.

    Perfect Pair

    I loved being able to combine Lou's with Portillo's! It was the perfect gift for my Mom in Florida, who misses all of her favorite Chicago foods!

    All three orders to Florida

    All three presents were outstanding in packaging,and quality and taste.. The Floridians said they arrived well packaged and totally frozen. The taste as one person was from Chicago,said it was like eating them back at home..Very pleased ,will definitely do this again..Very well done MALNATI’S.:clap::skin-tone-2::+1::skin-tone-2::ok_hand::skin-tone-2: Impressed for sure..plus not only quality,but enough quantity too!     Horrible Customer Service

    I’ve spent over $3000 a year for the past three years purchasing taste of Chicago for my employees. Each year the customer service gets worse and worse. 2022 was no exception. There is no one there to help you, no one you could call and no response when you send emails. We had a problem where our entire address book was erased from our account from previous years. This will be the last year that I will be purchasing from taste of Chicago.

    Good, but overpriced

    My family loves receiving this food for the holidays, but I think it’s becoming overpriced. The portions could be larger for the prices paid.

    True taste of Home

    Have been away from “home” - aka Chicago - for almost 20 years and decided to do something different for Christmas dinner. I ordered the Portillo’s Italian Beef Kit & 2 Lou’s Pizzas for the occasion. It could not have been better ! People who had not ever had either couldn’t believe how delicious it was and those of us who had reveled in the memories it brought back. Will definitely be ordering again and not just at Christmas time.
