This Portillo's Italian Beef Kit is packed with:

This sandwich kit makes 16 half sandwiches

  • 2.5 lbs (1 bag) of Portillo's famous Italian beef
  • 2 (1-qt bags) of Portillo's signature gravy
  • French bread rolls (16)
  • Oven roasted sweet peppers (8 oz bag)
  • Hot giardiniera (16 oz jar)
Stove top heating instructions
  1. Place entire contents of gravy packets in large sauce pan.
  2. Heat until it reaches 180°.DO NOT BOIL. This takes about 20 minutes.
  3. Open beef pack and separate slices. This creates a more flavorful and tender sandwich.
  4. Add enough slices for 2-3 sandwiches at a time and heat for about 1 minute. Add beef in small increments as needed.
  5. Take temperature of gravy while heating beef. The temperature should stay between 165° and 180° for best results.
French Bread:
  • Place rolls on cookie pan 2" apart and bake at 450° for 5 minutes.
Microwave heating instructions
  1. Place entire contents of gravy bucket in microwave safe bowl and heat for 5 minutes. This includes any solids or spices.
  2. Stir contents and then heat for another 4 minutes while separating the beef slices. The temperature should be 180°. DO NOT BOIL.
  3. Take bowl out of microwave and add enough beef for 2-3 sandwiches and stir in for about a minute. Take temperature as you add beef.
  4. If the temperature falls below 165° remove beef, return to microwave and reheat for 2 minutes.
    5. Food Safety Caution: The beef and gravy in this package must be at 40° or colder upon receiving it.

    Late

    It was really good, but only the candy came, the rest came a few days later after I complained. Thought a discount was in order.

    Great food as always!

    We would like to be able to buy just the hot peppers and not the sweet peppers, or at least be able to buy extra hot peppers. It's currently not an option.

    Love it!

    We sent this gift to friends moving in a new home. Everyone went WILD for the Beefs and pizzas. Perfect dinners….just have to heat up!We’ve done this before too…delicious food.

    Pizza and Italian beef

    Loved the portillo's beef and would buy again. The lou malnatti's pizza was horrible, the sauce was great but the crust was so hard it was inedible. Even underbaked second one and it made no difference. Would never reccomend or buy again.

    Delivery problem

    There was a delivery problem with UPS. They changed delivery date putting delivery from Friday to Monday resulting in defrosted food being delivered. While not Tastes of Chicago fault, they need to be clear with UPS about food delivery

    poor delivery

    Hi. You asked for a review so I'll give one. I was very disappointed with the delivery this time around. It was delayed 2 days (which was fine), but when it arrived there was no dry ice and everything was completely thawed out. The sandwich stuff was ok, but the pizza came room temperature with the toppings all smeared all to one side. Not sure if I'll order it again, which stinks because the first time around (a couple years ago) was perfect.
