This Portillo's Italian Beef Kit is packed with:

This sandwich kit makes 16 half sandwiches

  • 2.5 lbs (1 bag) of Portillo's famous Italian beef
  • 2 (1-qt bags) of Portillo's signature gravy
  • French bread rolls (16)
  • Oven roasted sweet peppers (8 oz bag)
  • Hot giardiniera (16 oz jar)

Stove top heating instructions for Portillo's Italian Beef:
• Place entire contents of gravy packets in large sauce pan.
• Heat until it reaches 180°.DO NOT BOIL. This takes about 20 minutes.
• Open Italian beef pack and separate beef slices. This creates a more flavorful and tender beef sandwich.
• Add enough Italian beef slices for 2-3 sandwiches at a time and heat for about 1 minute. Add beef in small increments as needed.
• Take temperature of gravy while heating Italian beef. The temperature should stay between 165° and 180° for best results.


French Bread:
• Place rolls on cookie pan 2" apart and bake at 450° for 5 minutes.

Microwave heating instructions for Portillo's Italian Beef:
• Place entire contents of gravy bucket in microwave safe bowl and heat for 5 minutes. This includes any solids or spices.
• Stir contents and then heat for another 4 minutes while separating the Italian beef slices. The temperature should be 180°. DO NOT BOIL.
• Take bowl out of microwave and add enough beef for 2-3 sandwiches and stir in for about a minute. Take temperature as you add beef.
• If the temperature falls below 165° remove beef, return to microwave and reheat for 2 minutes.
Food Safety Caution: The beef and gravy in this package must be at 40° or colder upon receiving it.

    The last time I ordered the Italian Beef, the gravey was on a plastic bag. It always came in a Tub. When I opened the box , the gravey leaked all over the box. Lost most of graveyl Can you please go back to putting the Gravey in thr Tub. Thank you

    Italian beef

    I’ve been ordering for years. Didn’t come with instructions. Didn’t get a get a hat. Also the plastic juice bag leaked in my fridge. Sad face. No longer have the plastic tub which is better than the bagged juice.

    Ordered the Italian beef with 2 Lou's pizzas. Definitely will be ordering it again! Easy to prepare, the TASTIEST of all beef sandwiches we have ever had! LOVE LOVE LOVED them!!!

    Portillos 8 beef kit

    I've been ordering this for years and the quality has recently gone down while the price has increased. The gravy now comes in bags (rather than the plastic containers) that leaked all over my fridge. At over $13 a beef, I no longer recommend this product

    Family Tradition!

    My father used to take us to Portillos when we visited Chicago as teens. My brothers and I live across the country so for Christmas he started shipping us the Italian Beef Kits. It became a Christmas tradition. Now that he's passed, we've carried on the tradition. I order kits for Thanksgiving Eve and Christmas Eve. My kids can't wait for Portillos and look forward to it every year. It's a Lineberry thing!
