This Portillo's Hot Dog Kit & Pizza Combo is packed with:

  • 2 9" Lou Malnati's deep dish pizzas
  • 10 all beef Portillo's Chicago hot dogs
  • 10 poppy-seed buns
  • 9-oz of yellow mustard
  • 6-oz of relish
  • 6-oz of sport peppers
  • Celery salt

A Portillo's Chicago-style hot dog starts with a natural skin on all beef hot dog, served in a steamed poppy seed bun, loaded with mustard, relish, onions, tomatoes, kosher pickle spear, sport peppers, and Portillo's own seasoning salt.

Hot Dogs
  1. Fill a 4 quart pot with one and half quarts of water (48 ounces).
  2. Bring water to a boil; turn the water down until it stops boiling, or a slight simmer. (DO NOT COOK HOT DOGS IN BOILING WATER).
  3. Place desired number of hot dogs into water and cook uncovered for 20 minutes. This is one of the critical steps to get the genuine Portillo's flavor.
Hot Dog Buns
  1. Do not steam the buns until the hot dogs have cooked for 20 minutes.
  2. Place package of hot dog buns into a microwave, if fewer buns are desired put them into a plastic bag and loosely close bag.
  3. Heat buns on high for 2 to 2 ½ minutes. (If fewer buns are desired heat for 45-60 seconds).
  4. Be cautious when opening, escaping steam and hot dog buns will be extremely hot.
Assembly
  1. Carefully open steam bun completely.
  2. Place hot dog into bun with ends curling up.
  3. Top with desired condiments in the following order: Mustard, Relish, Onion, Tomato slices, Portillo's seasoning salt (one shake per slice), Pickle spear and Sport Peppers.

    My boyfriend is originally from Illinois, and he had moved to Oregon for work, where we met. When we both visited Chicago, he introduced me to Portillos and Lou Malnati's. I was instantly addicted! Got this combo pack for him for Valentine's, and it was just about as delicious as it is at a restaurant. It's worth the money AND the pleasantly shocked look on your Chicagoan's face when they see this packed box directed to them. Dee-lish! :-)

    Just like I remember

    I ordered this for my son's birthday so he could have a little taste of home. Packed arrived on time and frozen nicely. We were able to heat everything up for the party and enjoy the good food of Chicago. I'll use this service again when I get homesick for more Chicago style foods.

    Taste of Home

    Bought this as a gift for someone to give them a taste of home while they're living on the East Coast. Shipped earlier than expected and arrived in a timely manner. Well worth it for the look of surprise on their faces. Threw in two pizzas just for fun!

    50th bday present

    I bought this for my friend's 50th birthday present. He is from Chicago but lives in Los Angeles, and is always talking about growing up in Chicago. So I wanted him to have a taste of home on such a big celebration. The gift was such a hit! Out of the 100s of presents, he particularly was in awe of this one with special mention. He said it was delicious and he was stuffed after eating it. I ordered it at 1am pst on Wednesday and it arrived around 9pm pst Friday at his door step. Definitely a great gift! I wish this combo had the option to add Eli's cheesecake. I ordered that with another pizza as well.

    It was a hit!

    I sent this to my brother and his family because they couldn't join us for our annual July 4th party. They loved it! It brought a little bit of Chicago to them. They saved the hot dogs for the 4th and enjoyed them when we were celebrating. This is a great product that brought happiness to all!
